Did Misty and Tommy Kill Haleigh?

Over two years and still no one in the Croslin’s family has came out with the truth about with what happened to the missing five year old Haleigh Cummings. Since Feb. 9, 2009 there have been numerous stories told of the events of that night, but all have been lies. The accusations have been thrown at Misty’s cousin Joe Overstreet, an easy mark with his seedy looks, drug habit, and previous run ins with law enforcement.

Now Misty says she made that up. Chelsea Croslin, who joined in on these accusations, recently apologized and has reunited with Joe.

Tommy Croslin was recorded in the back of a police car instructing Misty to lie to authorities about Haleigh just before these accusations were made. Now they are both serving lengthy sentences for drug crimes, 25 years for Misty, 15 years for Tommy but no one has cracked.

It is my opinion at this point that Misty and/or Tommy Croslin killed Haleigh, either accidentally or on purpose. I have come to this conclusion after considering all other options. I’m not sure if Ronald Cummings knows anything. He was at work during the time of the disappearance, that’s if they have been truthful about the time of the disappearance. His 90 phone calls home is pretty suspicious. After the phone call frenzy, he reportedly asked to work overtime and then then stopped by a convenience store after work.

If he was so worried about Misty or what was going on in his home why did he ask for more hours and then stop anywhere before going home? I believe Ronald married Misty after Haleigh’s disappearance to avoid a statutory rape charge that was more likely to come after the world-wide publicity. Misty was only 15 when she moved into his home, making him at the very least, a pedophile and a drug dealer.

There are no heros here.

Joe has been thoroughly checked out and has not been arrested. Everyone has been scrutinized and no one has been arrested. Facing 25 years, Misty would have turned the real killer in if it was anyone else other than herself or her brother.

These siblings had a rough life and likely feel they were all each other had growing up. I believe Misty would have told the truth long before being sentenced if the truth would not have been worse on her or her brother than a 25 year drug sentence.

Even after they were thrown in jail on the drug charges, they felt that whatever sentence they get for those charges will be less than murder.

What are your thoughts?

Misty Croslin was sentenced today to a second 25 years on drug charges from Putnam County, Florida.

The time will be served concurrently with the other 25-year sentence she is already serving on a St. Johns County conviction of trafficking in oxycodone.

In addition to the prison time, Croslin will receive five years of probation, a $1.25 million fine and mandatory drug rehabilitation.

Although several undercover video tapes show Misty selling drugs she told the judge she was not a drug dealer. “I have made some bad choices, and I know I have to take what I have done, and I just ask that you give me another chance.”

Her father, Hank Croslin Sr., made the same plea to the judge.

“She was not a drug dealer. She never was,” he said. “She just got caught acting stupid. She never sold drugs in her life. I don’t believe she took too many of them. I just ask the court be lenient, please.”

Croslin; Haleigh’s father, Ronald Cummings; brother, Hank Croslin Jr.; and two others were arrested in January 2010 in an undercover sting and charged with selling prescription drugs in January.

Prosecutors released surveillance videos they said shows undercover drug deals involving Misty Croslin and Ronald Cummings.

Misty Croslin was sentenced to 25 years on a charge of trafficking oxycodone in St. Johns County.

Last summer, Croslin’s attorney, Robert Fields, told the judge that a “landslide of evidence,” including the undercover video, led to her to plead no contest to the St. Johns County charges.

Misty Croslin is the last of the five arrested to be sentenced. Ronald Cummings and Hank Croslin Jr. both received 15-year sentences.

During the October sentencing hearing, Croslin told Judge Wendy Berger that she was raped between the ages of 7 and 14 by two people while she was taking care of her great-grandmother. She said that while Ronald Cummings was rough with her, it was an upgrade in her life and she loved him.

Authorities have maintained that the drug charges have no connection to the ongoing investigation of Haleigh’s disappearance, which they now consider a homicide case.

Haleigh was 5 years old when she vanished from her home in Satsuma, in southern Putnam County. Croslin, who was Ronald’s girlfriend when Haleigh disappeared, married and divorced him within six months.

Even with little to no physical evidence, deputies are treating Haleigh’s disappearance as a homicide, and investigators have continued questioning the Croslins while in jail hoping to learn new information.

Crystal Sheffield, Haleigh’s mother, was in the courtroom Monday, but she said she wasn’t too concerned with the outcome of the sentencing.

“I don’t care about her or her family. All I want is my baby home.”

“It’s all in her hands,” Sheffield said. “She has the answers, not me. I was not there.”

“Just tell the truth,” Sheffield said. “You say you love my children, why do this? God will remember one day. He will give me answers.”
