Misty, Haleigh’s father, Ronald Cummings, Misty’s brother, Hank Croslin Jr., and two others were arrested were also arrested in January in an undercover sting and charged with selling prescription drugs.

Misty Cummings plead no contest to drug trafficking charges in August in a St. Johns County courtroom.

In August, Misty’s attorney, Robert Fields, told the judge that a “landslide of evidence,” including the undercover video, led to her to plead no contest.

Ronald Cummings and Hank Croslin Jr. have both received 15-year sentences.

Misty told Judge Wendy Berger that she was raped by two people between the ages of 7 and 14 while she was taking care of her great grandmother. She said that while Ronald Cummings was rough with her, it was an upgrade in her life and she loved him.

Misty was sentenced on the one count of trafficking in oxycodone in St. Johns County. She still awaits sentencing on seven counts of drug trafficking pending in Putnam County, where she could face up to 200 years.

Prosecutors said she could qualify for a reduced sentence as a youthful offender, since she was 17 at the time of the crime, which could reduce her sentence to between six and 25 years.

Authorities have maintained that the drug charges have no connection to the ongoing investigation of Haleigh’s disappearance, which they now consider a homicide case.

Even with little to no physical evidence, deputies are treating Haleigh’s disappearance as a homicide, and investigators have continued questioning the Croslins while in jail hoping to learn new information.

She deserves all 25 years….but she will get out in 5 as our justice system is so screwed up. By then she will look like an 250 fullback. Needs to cut back on all those juicy prison snacks. Too bad that we will never know what really happened to Haleigh. Such a bunch of trailer trash.

  2. I think a 25 yr sentence is so wrong! You have violent people that commit rapes, murder, with less time! She is a young girl with a rough life, and she needs compassion, and help, not prison.
My heart goes out to Misty, and it really breaks my heart that her life is now ruined. The best years of her life will be behind bars.I wish there was something I could do to help. I dont know what that judge was thinking or how she sleeps at night.
What I find really disturbing is that people seem to get enjoyment out of her misery. Some people are SO happy she got 25 yrs. These folks should take the time to really think about this. Its not a show. Its a young girls life. Its not entertainment. sad

  3. Police and lawyers think they run the county and talk down to people and think nothing of ruining someone’s life. I don’t believe in hell but I know that most of these authority figures are going there for what they did to Misty and several others.

  4. I too feel that 25 years is way to long..for a stupid drug charge..
however she still has 7 more to go in putman county..
she is going to be gone for her whole life…
this is an outrage in the courts!
She should gotten youthfull offender and do no more then 10 years on all counts.

I agree with Joanne and Shania. 25 years is too harsh for this young girl who really hasn’t had much of a life and no examples to follow. I’m not saying she shouldn’t have to pay for her crime or suffer some consequences, but it’s not fair that others such as Ronald Cummings get less time and while others who rape and murder are let out in the street only to repeat their crimes when they should be incarcerated for life. I hope and pray that a day will come when Misty will separate herself from family and friends who have brought her down and learn a new way of living. God help her. The case regarding poor, sweet Haleigh is very sad. I would like to ask Misty two questions. Does she really know what happened to Haleigh and if you do, why, at the expense of your own life, are you so afraid to tell the authorities? Save yourself if you can.

  6. She sure lost that self-assured smirk she had on her face when this all started. What difference does it make whether the public is supporting her in jail for the next quarter century or paying welfare for her and her six or seven kids of unknown fathers for god-knows how long. I’d rather see her in jail and have the possibility of any further Croslin procreation become a non-issue.

  7. Twenty-five years seems more than just tad excessive. The police state folks sure got there money’s worth this time. Of course, all taxpayers will pay their bill. At $30,000 a year the tab will only run upwards of $750,000.

What’s the average sentence for prescription trafficking?

I don’t think she knows what happened that night and is trying to placate the police and all others concerned. she is a baby herself. she got herself into a bad situation and she is suffering the consequences. is really sad that they are trying to force her to do something that she doesn’t remember. anyone else out there been on a binge and can’t remember what the hell you did the night before??

I think she knows more than she is saying. But I think she is protecting someone. Them saying her sentence was not related to Haleigh, we all know that is crap.
The girl should of said something. Thats what they wanted and when she refused they played the game the hard way. Which is a joke. She is a little girl for god sakes. I just watched a man on Tru Tv who stabbed a homeless man to death get second degree murder with a 30 year sentence!!! He will likely see the light of day before this girl will.
This whole situation is sad. Did she get what she deserved…I suppose only she knows…or does she even know what happened? Scary to think…

  10. i think that judge had it out for mosty from the get go when misty told her she was not a drug dealer, which i think her husband made her do it, the judge said with a smirk yes you are, yes you are, the look on the judges face was that of a goodie twoshoes girl pickin on a less fortunate poor girl, kind of seemed like the judge got a kick out of it because she is holier than thou……

  11. does this judge give child rapist a lesser sentence i think it should be a retrial with a different judge who believes in second chances due to mistys enviornment she is a product of misguidane, ronald should be responsilbe for her he did sleep with a minor and persuaded her to do his will, she was just following his direction poor little lost child, does anyone know how to write to her

  12. Some say 25 years is too much, and they feel sorry for her? seriously? This girl knows what happened to little haleigh, and she deserves all the hell she gets for witholding information. She certainly was raised by 2 inbred idiots, who taught her nothing to help her in life. But feel sorry for this person? I hope she gets 25 years for every count she’s charged with.

  13. ya very scary because she may and may not be innocent, and only god knows the truth and god will punish her if she did do something. Are life lies in gods hands now only he can help her.

  14. this is the justice system for you..she tech got this sentence because she wont tell what happend to hayleigh when in reality she may rreally not know what happened to her..i bet nancy the dead kid extroting grace is happy.

  15. This Is insane 25 years for some pain pills ,she was really sentenced for the murder of Haleigh with no evidence or proof what so ever and that should scare everyone ,if they cant find a scape goat they will create one and the poor ,drug addicted, and uneducated are the easiest mark

  16. 25 YEARS FOR SELLING A SMALL AMOUNT OF PAIN PILLS… THIS SEEMS LIKE THE MOVIE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS ONLY THIS IS THE USA…. JEB BUSHS DAUGHTER DID ALOT MORE THAN MISTY AND OF COURSE NEVER DID A DAY IN PRISON… JEB BUSH ALSO APOINTED THE BIASED AND UNFAIF JUDGE WENDY BERGER….. ITS JEB AND THE JUDGE WHO SHOULD BE DOING THE 25 YEARS FOR ABUSE OF POWER AND RIGGING THE GAME…WITH THESE COMPLETELY ILLEAGAL MANDATORY MINIMUMS.. WHICH ARE USED FOR THE POOR…. AND UNFORTUNATE….

  17. Handyman6171 Says: May 27th, 2011 at 7:33 pm

I do belive that she may have been involved in the case of Hailey cummings.
However….she was sentenced to 25 years in jail for a few pills that she WAS involved with.
While I agree that she should pay for her crimes I also think that the 25 years is a manipulation of the justice system.
People kill, rape.and sell more drugs then that and get a slap on the wrist.
the courts gave her 25 years to scare her into confession and she has not done that ….so mr prosicuter….how did that work out for you ?
Grow up…these are two different crimes …treat them as such.

  18. this was the judges way of saying we think you killed the little girl we will never be able to prove it or get you for it.so ill get you for it now.i mean really 3 consecutive sentences of 25 years just for selling pills.you have got to be kidding me.they had it out for her since the girl was missing.hence why they did the drug sting involving her and her husband.they were trying their best to get her on something.they assume she did something to the girl and she never admitted to doing it.so they said we will get her one way or the other.then you have nancy after her sentence joyfully saying how long she got.i mean really how can you be happy someone got 25 years just for selling pills.i just dont get it.
