I’m working on a theory of who killed Haleigh Cummings. I’m in no way assuming Haleigh is dead and I am still hoping and praying that she will be found alive and un-harmed.
I am also not making any accusations, just speculating on what may have happened. Like a big ass game of clue.
First we have Greg Page, AKA White Boy Greg. He has a rap sheet and has admitted to doing drugs and having sex with Misty Croslin/Cummings the weekend before Haleigh disappeared. There is no info on him that would make you think he would be interested in a child. I’m thinking he had nothing to do with it.
Next we have Misty’s cousin, Joe Overstreet. He was there up until a couple of days before Haleigh disappeared but left for Tennessee before this all happened. He also has a rap sheet and Misty, on National TV, called him a criminal and cast suspicion on him. I have also read that “he had used a brick to hold a door open on at least one burglary.” Hmmm. I do not think its him either.
There are several pedophiles in the neighborhood and one of them is missing. Still I’m not feeling it. There is a chance that it was a neighborhood pedophile but I think not.
Crystal Sheffield is Haleigh’s Mom. I can’t imagine any reason she would want Haleigh dead. She evidently didn’t have a stable home or a job so Ronald obtained custody and she had regular visitation.
This leaves us with Ronald and Misty. Ronald clearly has an explosive temper and is a very angry person, but I believe he loves his kids with all his heart and would never intentionally harm them. I believe the same about Misty.
Taking into account that they are both drug addicts and I have known many, drug addicts do stupid things. Ronald has been arrested several times on possession charges but has only been prosecuted once. His mom is the police dispatcher and I guess that has helped him acquire leniency on several occasions.
I’m sure his Mom thinks she is watching out for him and being as good Mom but she has just enabled him to keep on doing what he does with no repercussions.
Misty was 16 when she moved in with Ronald. This is not a normal progression of a relationship with when a child has a loving relationship with a Mother and Father. She was running from something when she found Ronald Cummings.
Misty is an addict and on her own for some reason. Young girls normally end up with someone like their Father. Some are lucky and have loving, caring Dads and some do not.
I will not declare she was molested but she fits the profile to a tee.
I have seen it happen time and time again where a gorgeous young girl thinks she has fallen in love with the seediest of guys just because he has a steady supply of drugs. She is in love with the drugs and thinks she is in love with the supplier.
So, here’s my theory….
Ronald had drugs in the house and that’s the main reason why Misty is there. What if Haleigh found the drugs and had seen her Dad and Misty ingest them on many occasions and swallowed the meth, ecstasy, cocaine or whatever they had and died.
They devised a plan to cover it up. They got rid of the body (remember Ron is used to having no consequences for his actions) and came up with the story they told the police. Ron went to work, Misty waited on him to return and made the 911 call at the appropriate time.
She most likely had heard the story of her cousin using the brick to prop the door open on his burglaries and thought it would be a good cover. She seemed all too anxious to tell the 911 operator about the brick.
In the TV interviews I’m sure you have noticed that Misty looks at Ronald when she answers a question like she is thinking, “did I answer that right?”
Ronald fakes the rage and the quivering voice when he says he just wants his daughter home but has no ability to fake tears.
For Misty’s cooperation she gets her marriage she has wanted. Ronald was clearly not happy when they came out of the courthouse after picking up the paperwork necessary to make it happen.
I’m sorry this post is not written very eloquently but I’m just rambling my thoughts.

If your theory is true then how was Haleigh see by family & neighbors earlier the same night she went missing..?
rons not good enough to fake that 911 call and mistys not smart enough to follow instructions. doesn’t pass muster.

interesting theory, what if Ronald was not a part of this, I say if your theory is true, then Haleigh ingested drugs after Ron went to work and Misty is the only one who knows what happened. Remember the unexplained scratch on the van and Misty’s sister states the van had been moved. also, I believe that Ron married Misty because he wants to keep his friends close and his enemies closer, he knows that Misty has not told everything.
I agree with Ic – I think the theory could fly, but I don’t think Ron had anything to do with it if that’s the way it happened. I have never trusted Misty much though I think she cares for the kids, I think she’s got issues that far outweigh any “parental duties” she may have taken on. Even a mother who has time to get used to the idea of parenting has problems adjusting sometimes – walking into a ready-made family has had to be difficult for a party-happy teenager.
I think the day will come soon that Ron will wise up, freak out at what he has figured out, and it won’t surprise me to hear that something terrible has happened to Misty.

i feel misty is pregnant an this is why they married. also i eel misty knows alot more than shes saying about the disappearance of little haleigh. its time to get back to the facts an the important issues an thats finding haleigh. im tired of hearing about the dad..mom an misty. of course misty the lier who may love the children alot think., but loving a child doesnt mean you take off an leave them or allow someone else to take them an harm them or you harm them yourself. alot of pieces missing here and i feel their all right here in plain sight. the law needs to take misty into custody an i feel then an only then will she talk the truth.
her friend stated misty told her ronald abused her., an also the friend stated misty saw ronald hit an smack the sheet ourt of the kids. now misty loves the children?? watched this an never tried to help them?? or say anything to the authorities??
i find this hard to believe misty really LOVED anyone but wanted ronald. this little girl needs found NOW!! let her soul rest in peace with a normal funeral… an i will say i still pray shes alive..dont get me wrong. but at this time i eel haleigh saw things she shouldnt o an well i feel shes gone. its very apparent this was an inside crime. i mean how many people are going to do a kidnapping an block open a door with a brick.. take the time to do so…go into another persons home an of course turn the light on as to see where their going an then kidnap a child?? this doesnt make any sense. this was a person on the inside who did this. a back door they say is NEVER unlocked..then contradict themselves by saying well..we unlock it to take the trash out… im telling you these 2 know what happened to haleigh.
and im wondering if rons mom the dispatcher doesnt know more than shes saying an well helping ronald an misty our by keeping her mouth shut???
also i do agree with LC on ronald an ifeel the call to the police…to report haleigh missing..was NOT believable. he was over acting an misty well i feel her brains are fried from the drugs she used an uses. most people would search an call out the name of missing person then call the police immediately. but she didnt. she waited until ronald got home to see what to do next. im telling ya..they both know what happened to haleigh. an i they loved her as they say..then theyd tell the truth an come clean…
Pretty good theory. I don’t necessarily believe that Haleigh died from drugs, but it’s plausible. My guess is that Ronald had one of his fits of temper and accidentally killed Haleigh. Misty thinks she’s in love, so she’s covering up for him. Ronald is a controlling bully; he keeps Misty in line.
